Grupo de Pesquisa em Ecologia e Conservação de Peixes de Água Doce
The Research Group on Freshwater Fish Ecology and Conservation is formed by researchers and students of INPA linked to the Coordination of Biodiversity and the Graduate Program in Freshwater Biology and Inland Fisheries - BADPI. The group works basically in two lines of research: autecology and synecology. In autoecology studies, our main objective is to know the basic biology of some species such as diet, reproduction and growth, and the relationships between species and the environment. In the field of synecology, we aim to understand the interactions of species and the factors that structure fish assemblages in natural environments and those altered by human activities. We seek to understand the adaptations and development of reproductive tactics, trophic relationships between species as well as the influence of environmental impacts, such as climate change and human interference in the landscape, on the biology and ecology of fish species.
