Instructions for including new fishing sites

  1. Make sure you have your coordinates in decimal degrees. For example, latitude: -0.4429, longitude: -76.51793. If they are still in geographic coordinates (degrees, minutes, and seconds), please convert them to decimal degrees. Between four and five decimal places is considered ideal precision.
  2. Each site must have a unique name, following the nomenclature name of the site-area or main basin-name of the water body. For example: Iquitos-Amazon Basin-Nanay River.
  3. If it is a market or port, specify in the name. For example: “Iquitos: Mercado de Belén”.
  4. Put the name and coordinates of the new fishing site on this spreadsheet (VProximo Sites Update sheet). Make sure you fill in columns A, B and C.
  5. If you want to remove sites, use columns F and G. If you want to change coordinates (move a site), use columns I-M). If you want to change the name of a site, use the O-S columns.
